FAQs

Who’s able to join?

Any California high school student (13+) who has participated in CASC programming is welcome at no cost. Whether you’ve sat in on a single club meeting or staffed several statewide programs, we’d love to have you. We also welcome CASC alumni who have graduated high school, and advisors or school staff looking to support student leadership.

To keep our community safe, we ask you to answer a few easy questions before we admit you to the Network.

What content is there?+

Whatever you want! Content is designed and created by CASC students. That includes a calendar of all CASC student events, webinars and Q&A sessions with alumni and community leaders, student surveys, follow up workshops after CASC conferences, and resources to help you participate in your community. But if you want to bring in a new topic – a problem that’s frustrating your student council, a college application essay you need feedback on – we welcome it! Make the space your own. We only ask that you keep it respectful and related to CASC, academics, or leadership. (Please help make our moderators’ jobs easy!)

Who moderates the Commons?+

Students. This includes Regional leadership, State Council, and a few CASC student members with specialized knowledge or responsibilities (for example: program directors). A small number of CASC’s adult members may intervene if necessary, but for day-to-day matters, this is a student space.

What if I’m under 13?+

Unfortunately, for privacy, safety, and legal reasons, we require all members of the CASC Membership Platform to be at least thirteen years old. Mighty Networks, the platform’s software provider, also requires account-holders to be at least thirteen. We’d love to have you in the future!
