What is Woodland Serves?
This 2026-27 initiative, funded in part by a State of California grant, brings together 300+ participants from Woodland High School, Pioneer High School, and WJUSD Continuing Education.
Over 6 months, students will participate in leadership training conferences, form their own local Community Service Fund, and design 20+ student-led service initiatives across Woodland. The program culminates with Woodland Serves, a community service event in March 2027.
What is CASC Contributing?
CASC leaders in Region 2 will help provide peer leadership training at a series of workshops from August through March, coaching student leaders and faculty advisors through curriculum and experiential learning.
This initiative will seed a new class of leaders who can carry on CASC’s teaching even after the collaboration concludes.
Initiative Goals
How the year unfolds
Summer Camp: CASC provides leadership training to 11 JUSD Student Directors and the Woodland High School Student Activities Director at UC Santa Barbara.
Counselor Training Program: peer training for up to 20 Woodland JUSD students to serve as leadership counselors.
Leadership 101: a workshop for up to 120 students and 20 faculty, engaging students to select issues, brainstorm service projects, and develop their own service fund.
On-site planning: webinars coaching leaders through curriculum modules and supporting community partnerships, fundraising, and sponsorships.
Leadership 102: finalizing planning and outreach strategies and allocating funds.
Woodland Serves: the culminating community service event, followed by ongoing community leadership.
